Weigh-In #1

Updated: Oct 15, 2020

Ahh, the fateful day. The day of reckoning. It has been just over a week since I started this journey with you all. The first week saw some success and a couple failures, but in the end did my hard work and discipline (or lack there of) pay off?

Scale says....... 11lbs lost. That puts me off to a very good start for my 40lb goal by the end of this year. Please note, while this seems like an enormous amount to loose in one week (it is), I just started a more healthy lifestyle. My body has been use to and expects a gross amount of calories each day, so when I severely cutback on those calories and introduce a bit of exercise the weight drops fast, really fast at first. I have been loosing and gaining the same 30lbs for the last 3 years, this is a normal start.

I want to share my actual weight numbers and statistics with you all, but to be totally honest I am not alright with making that information public just yet. As my journey progresses and I see more success I will likely feel more comfortable with sharing that information then. I understand that numbers don't mean everything, but as one of the main goals of this blog is to encourage others struggling with weight loss I feel it is an important step in the journey. So the stats will come, eventually.

I have also decided to move my weigh ins from just the 1st of each month, to the 1st and the 15th of each month. Once again, my main goal is to improve my lifestyle so the only expectation is that my weight goes down. I feel it is just more motivating to have two check points each month to work towards compared to one, this should keep me more honest.

As for the coming week, I plan on releasing a couple different posts. One, I want to write about body image and self-consciousness and the second I want to cover the home gym my brother and I installed earlier this summer. Actually, I think this is the first time I have mentioned my brother. You probably already know this, but incase you don't, I am an identical twin.

This photo was taken almost exactly a year ago. I am on the left my brother (Irvin) is on the right. I was roughly the same weight in that photo as I am now. Irvin has been a huge encouragement, he has been on his own journey for about 3 months now and has had some great success. I like this photo a lot, for one we look amazing as usual, even with the extra weight. But also because it shows our starting point, I wonder what this photo will look like if we retake it next year?

Well there you have it, the first of many weigh in posts. I hope you can find some encouragement, whether you are dealing with weight loss or another problem please note you are not alone. We all have issues to work through and we are stronger together then we are apart.

One final note, I have added a new page to my blog, you can find a link to it at the top of the page titled Food Photos. I have always enjoyed cooking and sometimes I like to take photos of said food. I have posted some of my better pictures to that page. Please note I am a decent cook (I like to think) but a lousy photographer (this I know). I will update the gallery periodically as I cook new dishes. I will also post any new dishes at the end of my posts to give you a little treat for getting through the disaster that is my writing skills. Have a great week!
